Banff Sunshine Opens for the 23/24 Winter Season

The SkiBig3 trio of resort openings in Banff National Park is now complete. On Monday, November 13, 2023, Banff Sunshine extended their operations from a light-opening weekend, to include the Strawberry Express Quad Chair. Officially marking the launch of their 23/24 winter season, Banff Sunshine joins the Lake Louise Ski Resort and Mt Norquay in welcoming guests from around the world.

Early in the morning, Banff Sunshine switched on its gondola and carried guests into the alpine, to its famous upper village to prepare for the day. As of 9:00 am, the resort officially opened the Strawberry Express Quad transporting guests up the mountain for their first chair-accessed turns of the season.

Recent snowfall provides ideal conditions for expanded operations

Thanks to a storm dropping 24cm (9.4”) of new snow over the weekend, conditions were perfect – creamy soft snow over perfectly groomed corduroy. Relying exclusively on mother nature, Banff Sunshine offers skiers & riders 100% all-natural snow.

Day on the mountain

On the mountain, the Strawberry Express Quad was open along with, Mitey Mite carpet, a large hike terrain park and family-friendly tobogganing run. Terrain accessible from Strawberry Express includes the popular green and blue runs The Dell Valley and Rock Isle Road.

Stoke in the crowd was high for first chair and conditions couldn't have been more perfect with fresh snow drifting down from the sky and incredibly soft snow underfoot.

For those craving a long-awaited après, Mad Trappers was open serving frosty pints with base area Creekside Bar + Grill also open to satisfy hungry skiers and snowboarders.

More to come!

More terrain and more dining options are expected to open in the coming days and weeks. Follow SkiBig3’s social channels @skibig3 for the latest news on terrain openings and resort announcements.

Now that Banff Sunshine is open, joining Lake Louise Ski Resort and Mt. Norquay which opened on Friday, November 5, all SkiBig3 resorts are now operational and excited to welcome visitors from around the world.
