Imagine carving through pristine powder, surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, with access to three incredible ski resorts at your fingertips: Banff Sunshine Village, Lake Louise Ski Resort, and Mt. Norquay. This action-packed itinerary promises plenty of thrills, authentic Canadian experiences, and time to explore the majestic towns of Banff and Lake Louise.

Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a snowboarding newbie, SkiBig3 offers something for everyone. Pack your sense of adventure (and your warmest gear) as we dive into an unforgettable journey through the Canadian Rockies. It's time to hit the slopes, make some snow angels, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Let's go!

1

Day 1: Arrive into Calgary and Drive to Banff

Morning: Depart from Australia.

It's holiday time! Get ready to board your flight to Calgary. Qantas offers direct flights from Sydney to Vancouver. From Vancouver you can then transfer to Calgary, Banff and Lake Louise’s closest airport.

Evening: Arrive at Calgary International Airport.

After you've landed at Calgary Airport, you're just a scenic 90-minute drive along the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy #1) to the stunning town of Banff. If you prefer not to drive, you have the option to arrange convenient airport transfers as part of your package. Going car-free in Banff is a breeze. Free ski shuttles are available from various locations in town to transport you to the three resorts during your stay, and restaurants and shops are easily walkable.

Once you arrive, you can settle into your cosy hotel in Banff or Lake Louise. If you need help choosing the perfect spot, our helpful guide has all the information you need.

Tip: Skip the hassle of lugging your gear and rent skis, poles, snowboards, boots and helments from the SkiBig3 Adventure Hub. Stop by the Adventure Hub in downtown Banff to get your rentals fitted, and we'll deliver them straight to your hotel at no extra cost.

Day 2: Banff Sunshine and an Explore Around the Town

All-day adventure: Banff Sunshine

It’s time for your first day on the slopes. Kick off your day with a big brekky before heading up to Banff Sunshine. After a 20 minute ski shuttle, you’ll arrive at the resort and begin your journey to the top by hopping on the gondola to reach Sunshine’s upper Village.

Banff Sunshine is the perfect place to start your trip and ideal for getting your legs warmed up for the week ahead. If you need a quick warm-up break, take a ride on the heated Teepee Town Chairlift or glide your way back into the village. Head to Sunshine’s iconic Mad Trappers Saloon for lunch. Expect pub style meals and cold schooners.

Evening excitement: Explore Banff Town

After an adventurous day on the slopes, kick off your boots, sit back, and relax. You're on holiday after all. If you're up for some evening exploring, wander into Banff, browse the local shops, and indulge in a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants available. For a true Canadian evening, pop into Canadian Brewhouse to watch the ice-hockey over pub style meals and iconic Canadian beers.

All-day adventure: Banff Sunshine

As your confidence begins to grow on the snow, it's time to check out some more adventurous terrain at Banff Sunshine. Challenge yourself to some black diamond chutes at Goat's Eye or test your skills through the trees on Rollercoaster. For those looking to practice their tricks, head to one of the many terrain parks at the resort. Whether you're starting at the beginner-friendly Kids Play Park or taking on the more advanced features at the Great Divide Park, there's something for every skill level.

Evening relaxation: Hot Spring and Hot Pool Recharge

After another thrilling day at Banff Sunshine, unwind with a visit to the Banff Upper Hot Springs. Immerse yourself in the soothing, mineral-rich waters and let your muscles rejuvenate after a fun-filled day on the slopes. Prefer to stay closer to home? Check out the hot pools at your hotel.

Day 4: Explore Banff National Park

With your SkiBig3 lift ticket, you have built in grace days. Grace days are non-ski days that give you a chance to rest the legs, explore Banff and soak in the winter scenery. For example, a 6 out of 8-day ticket allows you to ski for 6 days within 8 days, giving you 2 days to relax at your own pace.

There's so much to ski and do in Banff National Park. Explore the winter wonderland with exciting adventures like dog sledding or ice climbing. Or, if you're after more relaxed experiences opt for some of the wellness and cultural activities. Whether you're immersing yourself in the stunning scenery or exploring the vibrant arts and culture scene, Banff and Lake Louise promise an unforgettable experience.

Day 5: Lake Louise Ski Resort and the Iconic Lake

All-day adventure: Lake Louise Ski Resort

After exploring Banff National Park, it's time to hit the slopes again but this time, at Lake Louise Ski Resort. Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, Lake Louise offers more than just incredible views. The resort features excellent progression zones, intermediate runs accessible from every lift, and some thrilling vertical drops too. It's the perfect destination for everyone in your group to enjoy.

Afternoon explorations: Visit the iconic Lake Louise

After a day carving it up on the slopes, head over to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise to see the iconic lake. Rent some skates and try your hand at ice-skating while soaking in the big mountain views. For something truly Canadian, rent an ice-hockey stick and puck and try your hand at ‘shinny’ (the Canadian version of ‘kicking the footy’).

Evening relaxation: Return to Banff

After another active day in the Canadian Rockies, return to your hotel for some much-needed rest. Once you're feeling refreshed, take a stroll through Banff and choose a new cuisine for tonight's meal of choice. Try out authentic Canadian steakhouses at Bluebird Wood-First Steakhour or Chuck’s Steakhouse for juicy AAA Albertan steaks.

Warm up and recharge at Temple Lodge, savour gourmet dishes at Whitehorn Bistro, or enjoy the unique flavours at Kuma Yama. These spots are perfect for re-fueling before another exciting afternoon on the mountain.

Evening magic: Banff Gondola and Nightrise Experience

Finish off the day with an unforgettable ride up the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain. Here you'll experience the magic of Nightrise, a captivating multi-sensory art installation that begins as soon as you enter the gondola. At the top, stroll along the boardwalk, take in panoramic views of the six mountain ranges in the Bow Valley, and watch the sunset over the picturesque town of Banff. It's the perfect way to end your day, surrounded by the beauty of the snow-covered mountains.
