SkiBig3 Vacation Protection Plan
Terms & Conditions
Purpose
At SkiBig3, we strive to help guests plan their visit with confidence and peace of mind. We understand that illness, injury, and other unforeseen circumstances can affect travel plans.
The SkiBig3 Vacation Protection Plan (VPP) is a cancellation fee waiver product designed to provide guests with added flexibility when unforeseen covered events prevent travel prior to arrival.
Cancellation Fee Waiver Benefit
If a covered event prevents travel prior to arrival and a claim is approved by SkiBig3, SkiBig3 will waive or refund cancellation fees otherwise applicable under SkiBig3’s Cancellation Policy.
- This applies to any SkiBig3 vacation package or product, including, but not limited to lodging, lift tickets, rentals and snow school.
- The VPP is not available for lodging nights at the Fairmont Banff Springs, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and Rimrock Resort during the Festive/Christmas period.
- The VPP is not intended to provide protection after arrival, reimburse travel expenses, or replace travel insurance.
Plan Fee
The VPP fee is equal to 6% of the total reservation value before applicable taxes and is non-refundable.
If the reserving guest modifies the reservation after purchasing the Plan, including by adding eligible products, extending dates, changing accommodation, or increasing the reservation value, SkiBig3 may require payment of an additional Plan fee to extend protection to the revised reservation value. If the reservation value decreases, the Plan fee remains non-refundable.
Coverage Period
Coverage begins when the VPP is purchased and expires:
- On the date of arrival for all vacation packages or products that include lodging.
- On the date of scheduled use for standalone products including lift tickets, ski rentals, lessons and guiding.
Covered Reasons
- Unforeseeable sickness, injury, or death of the reserving guest, travelling companion, or immediate family member.
- Involuntary loss of employment after booking, if employed for six consecutive months or longer with the same employer. Length of employment and termination date must be verifiable and documentation provided by the Human Resources department.
- The guest’s primary residence becoming uninhabitable due to fire, flood, or natural disaster.
- Medical reasons that are not pre-existing conditions and are certified by a physician.
Claim Notification and Documentation
Guests must notify SkiBig3 within seventy-two (72) hours of the incident giving rise to a claim and must provide supporting documentation acceptable to SkiBig3.
Failure to notify SkiBig3 promptly may reduce or eliminate any refund available under the Plan.
Unless otherwise stated by SkiBig3, claims must be submitted in writing and include the reservation number, guest name, covered reason, date of event, affected products, and satisfactory supporting documentation. SkiBig3 may request additional information before approving or denying a claim.
Examples of acceptable supporting documentation may include:
- Physician’s note
- Hospital record
- Death certificate
- Employer letter
- Proof of employment termination
- Police report
- Insurance letter
- Fire report
- Other documentation reasonably required by SkiBig3
Any false, misleading, incomplete, altered, or fraudulent information may result in denial of the claim, cancellation of the reservation, refusal of future service, and any other remedy available to SkiBig3.
Coverage Exclusions
The Plan does not provide refunds, credits, reimbursements, or other compensation for losses, cancellations, delays, interruptions, charges, or expenses caused directly or indirectly by any of the following:
