Job Description

SkiBig3 is currently seeking a full-time, year-round Data Scientist & Manager.  Reporting to the President, the primary function of the person in this position is to create, improve and maintain internal systems for the operational team, including the SkiBig3 resorts, to conduct business with ease and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, inherent curiosity and knack for finding solutions.

Organizational Relationships:

This position will be part of the SkiBig3 Information Technology Team. Working with all other SkiBig3 departments and Banff Sunshine, the Lake Louise Ski Resort and Mt Norquay.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain our SQL servers and databases including data warehouse
  • Maintain and create new reports that can better inform business decisions
  • Data modeling and cooperation with the team on our internal software development
  • Opportunity to participate and learn in internal software development (using C# and JavaScript frameworks) if the candidate is interested
  • Help manage internal and external IT team and systems
  • Work with the SkiBig3 team and vendor partners to improve integrations between systems for better reporting, operations, employee and guest experience
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of systems and reporting during the ski season
  • Assist in project managing software development and implementation with current and future vendors
  • Assist in researching new systems to improve and/or replace systems as needed

Job Requirements/Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Proficiency in SQL is a MUST, preferably with SQL Server
  • Ability to create reports and support business analysis, preferably with SSRS and/or Microsoft Power BI
  • Ability to create and maintain data warehouse, preferably with SSIS
  • Understanding of data modelling, architecture, and warehousing
  • Basic programming knowledge (Visual Basic for SSRS); however, if interested, the candidate has the opportunity to participate in more complex software development using C# and JavaScript frameworks.
  • Project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from the envisioning stage through to implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors and vendors
  • Experience and passion in a ski, travel, hospitality or retail environment preferred
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a self-starter and fast learner

Other Requirements:

  • 2+ years’ experience in tech-based data management, along with 3 – 5 years’ experience in a management or supervisory IT role.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position is based in Banff, however remote work possible for the right candidate
