Lake Louise Ski Resort - Big Mountain Challenge

The Lake Louise Big Mountain Challenge is back for another year!
This big mountain freeride competition is non-sanctioned — meaning it’s relaxed, laid-back, and all about FUN. Whether it’s your first competition or your 20th, it’s guaranteed to be a blast.

Details

There are categories for both skiing and snowboarding for men & women who are 18 and older! Please note that each category must have a minimum of three athletes to be eligible for prizes.

Our three judges will use the same criteria as the Freeride World Qualifier and will award points for line, control, fluidity, style/energy and technique! Prizes will be awarded for the podium finishers!

• Masters Ski (40+)
• Masters Snowboard (40+)

Note: Masters categories will only be broken out by male & female in each discipline if we receive a minimum of three participants per category.

Schedule

7 - 8AM - Check-in beside Banded Peak Base Camp

8AM - Mandatory Athlete & Coach Meeting in person at Banded Peak Base Camp

8:30AM - Load chair

8:50 - 10AM - Venue inspection, no hitting of features

10AM - One run for each athlete

2:30 - 3PM - Bib return at Banded Peak Base Camp

2:30PM - Awards and apres party presented by Arcteryx and Wild Life Distillery at the Banded Peak Base Camp

Bibs and Gear

Competitor bibs will be worn during this event. A $40 Cash Deposit will be required during check-in; you will receive this back when the bib is returned! Helmets are mandatory. Back protectors are strongly recommended.

Athlete Package and Waiver

All participants must sign an event waiver for the Lake Louise Ski Resort. An Athlete Package will be emailed out to the email address provided at registration which will include waivers, Athlete Bios, Discounted Ticket Price Info, etc.

After Party

Come join our awards ceremony and celebrate our Big Mountain Challenge athletes with us at Banded Peak Base Camp presented by Arcteryx and Wild Life Distillery.

Party will start around 2:30pm, and the award ceremony when Judges have deliberated!

Registration

Online registration opens on February 13 and closes March 3 at 4PM MT. 

Limited in-person registration will be available from 7-8AM on March 6. Categories and availability will be confirmed closer to the time. 

If your category is full, please email events@skilouise.com to be added to the waitlist. Should spots become available, we will contact wait listed athletes after 4:00 PM on March 3. Openings will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis for wait listed athletes.
