Welcome to Canada! American Travelers Visiting Banff in 2025

Here in Canada, specifically in Banff & Lake Louise, we have some of the most incredible skiing, views and scenery, exciting and heart pumping activities, and a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. In these trying times, we want all Americans to know that they are welcome in Canada, and we want to share everything we have to offer.

The Benefits of Travelling to Canada

For U.S travellers, there are a lot of benefits to travelling over into Canada. Many news outlets such as CTV News and Yahoo are showcasing the benefits of the U.S exchange rate, and the short commute over the boarder and the overall delight US visitors experience once they get here.

Do More and Spend Less

With the current exchange rate sitting just under 70 cents to the U.S. dollar, your ski vacation budget stretches further in Banff and Lake Louise. Whether it’s lift tickets, lodging, dining, or après-ski drinks, everything is around 30% more affordable than in many U.S. ski destinations. That means more runs, more adventure, and more memorable moments, without the higher price tag.

Shorter Commutes to More Fun

Reaching the Canadian Rockies is easier than you might think. Direct flights from major U.S. cities land at Calgary International Airport (YYC), and from there, it's just a 90-minute drive to Banff. In some cases, getting here takes less time than sitting in traffic at your nearest ski hill back home. Plus, airport shuttles, car rentals, and bus services make the journey smooth and stress free.

Extend your ski season through May

Here in Banff & Lake Louise, we also have one of the longest ski seasons, with some of our resorts open from November through to May. A longer season not only means more skiing! But it gives travellers the freedom to travel outside of peak seasons, meaning even less travel time and more money saved.

Everyone is Welcome in the North

We are hearing some concerns from our neighbors to the South. Check out forums like TripAdvisor and Reddit, where Americans expressed their caution on visiting Canada and you may be surprised to see Canadians' sentiment is overwhelmingly positive. We want to reassure EVERYONE that you are welcome here! Canadians are known for their warmth and hospitality, and that hasn’t changed. Banff and Lake Louise are built on a love for the outdoors and a passion for sharing our mountains with visitors from around the world.

We welcome Americans looking for a new place for their ski holiday, and in a place like Banff & Lake Louise, there is no doubt you will find it incredibly beautiful, fun and welcoming. We have some of the most spectacular mountains to venture, with 7,748 acres of skiable terrain, that is unlike anywhere else. The town of Banff is bustling with restaurants, bars and shops, and there is always something to do.

Why Skiing in Banff National Park Feels Different

Skiing rarely happens in a place this protected, expansive, and deeply connected to nature. In Banff, three world-class ski resorts operate entirely within a preserved Canadian National Park, the oldest park in Canada, creating an experience that feels both elevated and refreshingly grounded.
