Spring Skiing with your IKON Pass at SkiBig3

If you're holding an Ikon Pass and chasing a last-minute ski getaway before the season ends, then SkiBig3 is the perfect destination. With one of the longest non-glacial ski seasons in North America, you can utilise your Ikon Pass all the way through May.

Here is the ultimate way to spend your spring vacation at Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise Ski Resort, and Mt. Norquay.

Day 1: Soak in the Sun at Banff Sunshine

With Banff Sunshine open an extra 30 minutes in the spring, there is no rush to get to the hill.
Enjoy a slower start, with breakfast down in Banff or on the hill.

  • Once you’re awake and fueled for the day ahead: if you’re an advanced skier, Goat’s Eye should be your first stop. If you are hoping for a more mellow start to the day, head to Strawberry or Standish. Enjoy lapping the fresh groomers or challenging yourself on the steeps.
  • Come lunch time, head to Mad Trappers Saloon for some delicious poutine and a pint. Find a spot on the outdoor seating and enjoy basking in the blue skies and sunshine (maybe catch a tan).
  • After lunch, head up the new 6-seater Bubble Chair, Super Angel LX, and explore some new terrain. If you’re chasing more stunning views, head up Great Divide, and the rest speaks for itself.
  • After a great day out on the mountain, head back into town for après. Banff has a range of great spots to hit for après.

Day 2: Laps and Après at Lake Louise Ski Resort

Enjoy the scenic drive to Lake Louise Ski Resort.

  • Start your day by riding the Grizzly Gondola for first tracks. Warm up with cruisers on the front side, then hop on the Pipestone Express Heated Bubble Chair to access even more terrain in West Bowl. Don’t miss the tree runs in the Larch area for a true mountain escape.
  • Enjoy a much-needed break and head to Kuma Yama for lunch and some apres. Located in the main lodge, Kuma Yama is a trendy Japanese inspired restaurant, with authentic Japanese cuisine. This is an ideal place to refuel before heading back out to explore.
  • After recharging the batteries, it's time to head out to the famous back bowls. Enjoy deep powder turns and wide-open runs. If you’re looking for something more laid back, stay on the front side and explore more of this incredible mountain.
  • After a big day, it’s time for a relaxing sit-down dinner and some drinks. Sophia’s Pizzeria is the newest restaurant in town, serving delicious woodfire pizzas and fresh pasta.

Day 3: Sun and Scenery at Mt. Norquay

  • Just a short 10-minute drive from Banff, Mt. Norquay is the perfect way to finish your SkiBig3 adventure. Its variety of terrain makes it a great spot for skiers and riders of all levels. Carve cruisers off the Cascade Chair or head to the Mystic Chair for steeper, more advanced runs.
  • Take a break at the Lone Pine Pub, Norquay’s quaint slope side spot serving up delicious locally sourced meals with stunning views.
  • Enjoy the afternoon exploring more of Mt. Norquay, whilst taking in the stunning views of Rundle Mountain. If you’re looking for more, you can head to the tube park for some thrilling fun. Tubing is reasonably priced and will give you 3 hours of speed and laughter.

Celebrating 100 Years of Mt. Norquay – Centennial Celebrations

This year, Mt. Norquay turns 100, and for a resort that has taught generations of Alberta locals how to ski and snowboard, that calls for a proper, mountain-sized celebration. On May 28, Norquay is hosting a centenary “Day of Nostalgia,” bringing the community together to celebrate a century of history, heart, and that unmistakable locals’ hill vibe.
