SnowDays runs from January 10 to February 9, 2014.

The annual SnowDays festival kicks off this week, celebrating everything awesome about winter in Banff-Lake Louise. Here’s how you can celebrate with Canada’s Big 3 Ski Resorts.

The Big Bear

Jan 10 $10 Bear St., Banff 6pm-9pm
Street party meets terrain park showdown at SnowDays’ newest ski and snowboard event, The Big Bear!

Here’s your chance to watch the pros stomp out their tricks on custom designed ramps and rails – all to the adrenaline-pumping sounds of Adam Doubleyou the RED Bull Thre3style Canadian Champ. Food and beverage vendors will round out this one-of-a-kind event, happening right on Banff’s Bear Street

Slide and Ride

Jan 11-12 & 18-19 FREE Central Park noon-4pm
Try your hand at skiing or snowboarding on the mini slope in downtown Banff. The SkiBig3 Slide & Ride returns with FREE equipment rental and professional guides to teach the basics of skiing or snowboarding.

Avalanche Awareness Days

Jan 18-19 FREE Lake Louise Ski Resort (Jan 18) & Sunshine Village (Jan 18-19)
Championing ski safety, Lake Louise Ski Resort and Sunshine Village will be offering FREE avalanche awareness days at the resorts.

Mt. Norquay Ski Rail Jam

Jan 11 $10 entry Mt. Norquay 6:30pm-10pm
Calling all freestyle skiers! Come up to Norquay on January 11th and show us what you got. There will be tons of prizes, free food, and music. Registration starts at 6:30pm In the Cascade Lodge.

World Snow Day

Jan 19 Some prices apply Lake Louise Ski Resort & Sunshine Village
Celebrate snow with the international World Snow Day. Explore the famous snow and the terrain at Sunshine Village, or tye the sightseeing gondola and snowshoeing as well as skiing at Lake Louise Ski Resort.

Cardboard Box Sled Derby

Jan 25 FREE to watch or $10 to enter Mt. Norquay 6:30pm-10pm
The crème-de la crème of snow seekers descend on Mt. Norquay for the annual Cardboard Box Sled Derby. Watch for FREE or enter. Participants must build a sled using only tape, string, garbage bags, glue and cardboard. Prizes will be awarded for fastest sled, best crash, best overall sled and longest run.

Demo Day at Lake Louise Ski Resort

Jan 25 FREE Lake Louise Ski Resort
Visit the Lake Louise Ski Resort on 4 demo days throughout the season and test out some great equipment from great ski and snowboard companies. There will be a number of companies and shops on hand to give you all the information you need about their products.

Photographing the Winter Landscape at Lake Louise Ski Resort

Join National Geographic Traveler award winning photographer Mark Unrau for a 6 hour workshop at The Lake Louise Ski Resort to learn how to capture the drama of the winter landscape.

Australia Day

Sunshine Village guests are invited to help celebrate Australia’s national day by bringing the celebration from the beach to the snow. Skiers and riders can expect food specials, music and prizing.

Mt. Norquay Snowboard Rail Jam

Feb 1 $10 entry Mt. Norquay 6:30pm-10pm
Calling all freestyle Boarders! Come up to Norquay on February 1st and show us what you got. There will be tons of prizes, free food, and music. Registration starts at 6:30pm In the Cascade Lodge.

The Mountain Smoker

Feb 1 FREE to watch or $20 to enter Mt. Norquay 8am-1pm
The Mountain Smoker is a 3 hour competition down the Lone Pine on the North American Chair. The goal is to complete as many laps as possible within the three hour time limit. The record is 24 laps, think you got what it takes to beat it? Ski Guide, Bob Rankin set the record in 1981, which still stands at 24 laps (or 31,200 vertical feet).

Sunshine Invitational

Feb 8-9 Some fees apply Sunshine Village
Come cheer on your Sunshine Speedsters in the 43rd annual Nancy Greene Sunshine Invitational and watch these up-and-coming athletes showcase their skills.

Ken Jones Classic

Feb 8 Some fees apply Lake Louise Ski Resort
