Six Spicy Ways to Survive Valentine’s Day in Banff

Love Day is on its way to Banff and Lake Louise. But if you don’t have a valentine locked down and are dreading the day of doe-eyed couples, don’t get your ski goggles in a bunch!

It’s true that Banff and Lake Louise are go-to destinations for romantic mountain escapes. However, they are also hot spots for singles looking for love – or simply for some much-needed ‘me-time’.

Here are six solo ways to get spicy on your Valentine’s Day ski trip with SkiBig3.

1. Treat Yo’self!

Let’s face it – above anyone, your number one should be y-o-u. So, nurture that relationship with a little love and care! Banff National Park is a wellness mecca, with many a spa menu to serve up the best soul-pampering treats. Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Banff Springs is a great place to relax for an afternoon, best enjoyed with a harlequin of the cheesiest genre in one hand, and a tea (and cookie) in the other.

Banff’s newest spa can be discovered at The Moose Hotel and Suites – the Meadow Spa + Pools. Filled with natural light and stunning mountain views, bask in a variety of spa experiences here. Their tranquil environment comes with a peaceful relaxation lounge and a private outdoor pool.

Unwind even more by booking a massage treatment at Cedar & Sage, located in downtown Banff. This locally owned and operated wellness centre has your best interest in mind for quality body care, and offer a variety in wellness treatments. Come a little early to enjoy their chilled out lounge area, and take in their stunning mountain views.

2. Ride an Endorphin High

Not only is exercise one of the best ways to counteract any v-day blues, it’s a key ingredient to building confidence – and there’s nothing sexier than that! Dance for Joy studio has a fantastic class schedule to bring out your inner fabulous – from Burlesque to Belly Dancing to Barre.

Yogis will want to check out Rocky Mountain Yoga. With a medley of methods, styles and levels on their yoga schedule, all regular classes are open to drop in. Located in the heart of the Bison Courtyard, this quiet and inspiring studio is within walking distance of many great coffee shops and a walk along the Bow River – the best components to a perfect ‘me-day’.

3. Level Up Your (Ski) Game

While everyone else is jumping through hoops to impress their s.o., why not take this time to impress yourself? Levelling up your ski skills is always a worthwhile endeavour. And it’s made a lot more fun by taking part in our Guided Adventures program. This program is designed for intermediate-plus skiers and snowboarders looking to find the best spots on the mountain while improving their technique. All program leaders are certified ski instructors, so you know their advice is professional and focused on skill improvement.

Not quite at the blue run level yet? Ask our Vacation Planners about adult beginner lessons. All SkiBig3 resorts offer private and group lessons. The latter may be a great way to meet a new ski buddy to discover the slopes with!

4. Hop Aboard the Love Lift

Being single on Valentine’s Day is often preferential – it means you can enjoy events catered to solo skiers. Lifts of Love at Mt. Norquay is a popular way to meet the future Mr. or Mrs. (and quickly determine whether their ski skills are up to snuff)

This fresh take on speed dating provides lift time with potentials on Mt. Norquay’s High Speed Quad. Digging their vibe? Ask them to join you for a hot lap on the way down! Rather pass? It’s a short ride to the top to ditch. Afterwards, you can carry on the mingle with an après ski mixer in the Lone Pine.

5. Speed Date at Banff Ave Brewing Co.

Join Banff Ave Brewing Co. for their first ever speed dating night. With delicious beers on tap to ease the tension, this free event may just bud a future brewmance. At the very least, you’ll get to enjoy a special aphrodisiac cask.

6. Discover Banff’s Nightlife

While restaurants may be brimmed with couples in loveland, the nightlife scene will be waiting to be tapped by Banff’s most eligible skiers. The infamous Dancing Sasquatch nightclub is keeping the love alive with their Traffic Light Party – and you don’t have to be single to enjoy it. Dress as green for available, red for taken, and yellow – well, that’s up to you to determine!
