We’re excited to partner with Ski Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine to be a part of the 1st Annual Pond Skimming World Cup,” says POWDER’s General Manager, Ashley Otte. “Sunshine Village currently hosts one of the most iconic pond skimming competitions in North America and serves as the perfect location to host a world championship next season.
The light, airy powder that skier’s dream about, some of the highest base elevations in Canada, and heavy annual snow accumulation provide the ski resorts of Banff National Park with one of the longest non-glaciated ski seasons in North America. Long after many other resorts have completed their end-of-season parties and pond skimming events, Sunshine Village remains open until late-May making the Canadian Rockies the ideal location to host the Pond Skimming World Cup.
More information and registration details about qualifying events and the Pond Skimming World Cup will be announced in the coming months.
