Where to Be for NYE in Banff & Lake Louise

Banff National Park is bursting with New Year’s Eve festivities to ring in 2019! From on-resort parades to downtown Banff activities, these events are sure to delight all ages.

Torchlight Parades at SkiBig3 Resorts

Banff Sunshine Village – At 7 p.m. on December 31st, watch Banff Sunshine Village’s specially trained torchbearers put on a nighttime show for the guests of the Sunshine Mountain Lodge.

Mt. Norquay – Ring in the New Year with Mt. Norquay’s Torchlight Parade from 7 to 10 p.m. Parade begins at the top of North American chair, and can be seen from the town of Banff. E-mail sales@mtnorquay.com if you’d like to participate.

Rocky Mountain New Year’s Eve at Lake Louise Ski Resort

Enjoy a spectacular buffet supper, cash bar, night snow tubing followed by a dance party with One Nite Band, right until midnight with of course, a champagne toast! Bring the whole family to ring in 2019 in Lake Louise!

Downtown Banff Celebrations

Main Stage on Banff Avenue + Wolf Street – From 7 p.m. onward, enjoy music from the main stage, featuring cultural music and dance with Stoney Nakoda artists, good ole country and rock from Brent Lee, alt-folk and rock local favourite Amelie Patterson, DJs and fire dancers.

200 Block of Banff Avenue – The 200 block will be abuzz with family activities come New Year’s Eve, from the NYE Express train for kids to a fat bike obstacle course. Warm up at the Roam bus station, then head over to warm marshmallows and make a maple toffee treat in the snow.

Downtown Ice Rink – Grab a pair of skates and head over to the downtown rink for a skating party. Don’t miss the comedy and magic of Isabelle the Wonderful, and stop by the teepee for interpretive Indigenous storytelling with Blackfoot artist Treffrey Deerfoot. Enjoy some traditional tea, berry soup and bannock. The teepee is open until 11 p.m.

Midnight Pyrotechnic Display – At midnight, welcome in the New Year with a pyrotechnic display from the downtown ice rink. To be mindful of our wildlife neighbours in the Bow Valley, there will be no fireworks this year.

Town of Canmore Celebrations

New Year’s Eve Party on the Pond – From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., skate to music under a starry sky drinking hot chocolate and warming up by the bonfires with hundreds of other families. Enjoy live music by up-and-coming country artists The Reklaws, bonfires, a DJ, hot chocolate and food vendors serving up gourmet grilled cheese and Swiss raclette. Family fireworks begin at 8 p.m.
