Shoulder season is incontestably over now that Mt Norquay has opened to the public. At 10:00am, on Thursday, November 5th 2015, Mt Norquay opened its slopes. This makes Mt Norquay the first of the Alberta ski resorts to open for the 2015-2016 season and also commemorates its 90th season in operation.

The resort has lots of festivities planned for this momentous anniversary. Besides inviting two-time Olympian Ken Read to shred alongside keeners present for opening day, Mt Norquay is unveiling an updated trail map, opening brand new ski runs, expanding Tube Town, and offering 90 cent lift tickets on select dates. They have also partnered with Banff Ave Brewing Co to create a 90th anniversary craft brewed beer, the Norquay 90 Kolsch – perfect for a toast honouring Alberta’s oldest ski resort.

Named after the founders of the Banff Alpine Racers, an organization instrumental in developing competitive skiing in local kids and youth, the run is just a portion of a 10-acre plot of newly accessible terrain at Norquay.

A local favorite because of its Toonie Days, Norquay is changing up this long standing tradition in honour of the anniversary – charging Alberta residents only 90 cents for lift tickets once a month, with all proceeds going to local charities.

With this much on the books to celebrate 90 years of skiing, it’s certain to be an exciting season at Mt Norquay.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
