Park features and fresh snow stoke the stoke for opening day at Mt. Norquay!
Big news coming out of Banff National Park! High fives and stoke vibes are up to the summits this weekend! Locals and visitors celebrate first turns of the season just minutes from the town site.
After a promising forecast and solid snowpack, Mt. Norquay spins its lifts and opens its lines a day early today, November 3rd – the first ski resort to open for the winter season in Canada.
With 27cm of the fresh stuff (all natural!) on Wednesday and another 12cm in the past 24 hours, they’re in good shape and starting off strong for the winter. They even have features in their terrain park up and ready to go.
They will be running the Cascade chairlift from 11am to 4pm on opening day, and from 9am to 4pm, 7 days a week, from this Saturday, November 4.
Keep your eyes on your social feeds in case the other Big3 resorts follow suit with surprise early open dates.
Banff Sunshine has a tentative opening date of November 10th, but has been known to treat their guests in years past with an extra-long ski season to go along with their great light snow.
Update: Banff Sunshine has confirmed an early opening date for Wednesday, November 8th.
Lake Louise Ski Resort
Coming in strong the same weekend will be Lake Louise Ski Resort, which is currently getting some great snow and solid prep for a successful opening day. They are also scheduled to open on Friday, November 10th.
Update: Lake Louise Ski Resort is pleased to announce and early opening, with lifts turning as of Tuesday, November 7th.
