Local skier Logan Thackray recognized with Scholarship

Ski Banff Lake Louise Sunshine is proud to introduce Logan Thackray, a talented local ski racer and the recipient of the Tri- Area Alpine Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes all her hard work and dedication in both academic and athletic efforts. Logan took to ski racing naturally feeling a sense of calm when skiing a downhill course at 100+ km/h. Her hard work and commitment to the sport has taught her how to balance her life and obtain her goals, and is sure to be an example to many young women in the early stages of ski racing.

The Tri Area Scholarship presented by Mt. Norquay, The Lake Louise Ski Area and Sunshine Village is handed out to local athletes who excel in their academic studies and is funded by the Community Ski Days, an event hosted by Banff-Lake Louise’s ski resorts. On these days, Bow Valley locals are invited to ski all day for a donation of just $30.

Logan followed in the footsteps of her two older brothers and began her ski-racing career at age 6. In her first year of FIS she received 2 bronze medals, and 2 silver medals securing her spot on the Alberta Ski Team. With this fantastic opportunity came the chance to train in New Zealand and ski with some of Alberta’s top female skiers. Even with a rigorous 5 day a week training schedule, a budding music career, and school Logan finds time to spend with friends and family. Her hard work and dedication have paid off thus far and will continue to do so, and we hope to see her reach her Olympic dreams.
