Juniper Express Chair Now Open at Lake Louise Ski Resort

After months of record-breaking snowfall, Lake Louise Ski Resort is celebrating more good news with the opening of a new chairlift. Juniper Express Chair, a new high-speed quad, started transporting eager riders on February 3, 2022.

The chair’s base is located near the Whiskey Jack Lodge and shuttles guests to the junction of the Men’s Downhill, Juniper Jungle, and West Bowl egress trail, allowing for quick access to five new blue runs and improved access to three terrain parks, in as little as six minutes.

Improved access to beginner and intermediate terrain

Currently, two of the five Juniper area runs are open — Bearberry (#175) and Juniper(#4). Two additional runs — Blueberry (#173) and Buffaloberry (#174) — will open later this month. The opening of Bunchberry (#176) is to be determined.

The new trails are geared toward beginner and intermediate skiers and riders, providing an easy transition between the Sunnyside Learning Area and upper mountain trails. The blue runs are perfect for warm-up laps as the terrain offers great wind protection, allowing for very consistent snow conditions and great visibility no matter the weather.

Juniper Express Chair is just the beginning...

Juniper Express is the first phase of a new two-chair route to reach Summit Base; another high-speed quad is planned for the top of Juniper to the bottom of Summit Quad. This future development will enhance access to the resort's new West Bowl, a world-class 480-acre free ride zone on the front side of Whitehorn Mountain. The area offers some of the most exciting and technical in-bounds terrain in Canada for intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders.

Lake Louise Ski Resort keeps winning awards

The upper mountain of the ski resort has received more than 227 inches (5.7 meters) of powder to date this season. At Lake Louise Ski Resort, skiers and riders enjoy trail options from gentle groomers to wide-open gullies, flowing glades, thrilling chutes, and challenging steeps. Each trail offers its own unique adventure and spectacular views of Lake Louise’s world-famous scenery.

Last month, Lake Louise Ski Resort won No. 1 Resort in Canada in the 2021 World Ski Awards (the 7th time in nine years). The award was just one of many factors that has elevated Banff, Canada, to 3rd place in Top Destinations for Skiers in the World, according to the 2022 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards.
