Insider's Guide to Slopeside Dining at SkiBig3

It doesn’t take long to work up an appetite in the mountains, especially when you’re chasing powder, lapping groomers or dialing in a new trick. Luckily, the three SkiBig3 resorts serve up plenty of great spots to refuel. Whether you’re fueling up with breakfast at Banff Sunshine, sitting down for a scenic lunch at Lake Louise Ski Resort, or chasing the best après ski in Banff at Mt. Norquay, there’s something for every appetite. If you’re looking for the top restaurants at Banff and Lake Louise ski resorts, quick on-mountain dining options, or the best spots for a post-ski pint, consider this your local’s guide to eating well in the Canadian Rockies.

Banff Sunshine

For Coffee & Breakfast

At Banff Sunshine, mornings are all about fueling up and getting after it. If you’re heading for first chair, swing by Java Station in Creekside Bar + Grill near the gondola base for a proper coffee and a quick pastry before you load up. Up in the Village, Java Lift inside Sunshine Mountain Lodge keeps the caffeine coming with handcrafted drinks and easy breakfast bites. If you’ve got time to linger, grab a table at Chimney Corner for a classic mountain breakfast, think eggs benny, big omelets and French toast, all with snowy peaks outside your window.

Lunch

Restaurants - Mad Trapper’s is a long-time favourite for good reason serving burgers, chili and nachos that hit the spot after a few solid laps. For something different, Nikko Ramen in Centennial Lodge serves up comforting bowls that warm you right through. Chimney Corner Lounge offers a cozy, fireside setting with hearty plates, while the Lookout Lounge upstairs brings Italian-inspired dishes and sweeping mountain views. Skiing out for the day? Creekside Bar + Grill at the base is perfect for poutine, pizza and a well-earned pint.

Cafeterias - For quick, grab-and-go style bites or lighter fare between runs, the Alpine Grill upstairs in the Centennial Lodge and Goat’s Eye Grill at Goat’s Eye have you sorted for food that is simple and satisfying. Serve yourself before taking a seat and swapping stories.

Lunch

Restaurants - Lunch at Lake Louise is as varied as the mountain itself. Whitehorn Bistro is the on-mountain standout, accessible by lift, with locally inspired dishes, a healthy selection of craft beers and BC wines and one of the best patios around. On the backside, Sawyer’s Nook serves up charcuterie and fondue in a classic timber cabin setting. Down at the base, Kuma Yama is a go-to for sushi, ramen and gyoza, while the Powder Keg Lounge upstairs in the Lodge of Ten Peaks is a relaxed spot for a burger and a beer.

Cafeterias - For quick refuels, you’ll find reliable options across the resort with the Lodge of Ten Peaks Cafeteria and Whiskeyjack Café on the frontside, and Temple Market Cafeteria on the backside. Grab a tray, find a table and swap stories before heading back out.

Mt. Norquay keeps things simple, and that’s part of its charm. For quick bites, Cascade Lodge at the base and North American Lodge by the Tube Park serve up burgers, fries and nachos in classic timber-frame settings. For table service, head upstairs to The Lone Pine for hearty pub fare and locally crafted beers. Their iconic nachos are made for sharing, and “The Mighty Quay” kolsch, brewed to celebrate 100 years of Norquay, is worth a pint. Grab a seat by the windows and take in the views.
