Here's a quick guide on the best places to ride your e-bike in Banff this summer.
Where to rent e-bikes from?

2-hour e-bike routes
Vermilion Lakes
6km one way (12km return): Suggested rental time min. 2 hour

The Vermilion Lakes route is the perfect place to get comfortable with your e-bike and give it a quick test ride. From the SkiBig3 Adventure Hub, make your way to Mt. Norquay Road, then turn onto Vermilion Lake Road before the Highway 1 overpass. Remember to steer clear of the Bow Vallery walking trail, which is only for pedestrians and non-electric bikes While you ride past the three lakes, be on the lot for the reflection of Mount Rundle in each one!
Tunnel Mountain Loop

The Tunnel Mountain Loop is the ultimate e-bike adventure in Banff that gives you the most bang for your buck. Start your ride on Buffalo Street and Banff Avenue, and pedal your way up to Suprise Corner for a breathtaking view of the castle nestled in the mountains. Keep going up Tunnel Mountain Road until you reach the HooDoos viewpoint. Then, jump onto the Legacy Trail and cruise your way back to Banff Avenue.
INSIDER TIP: When you reach the HooDoos, take a breather and stroll the short trail to witness some of Banff's natural wonders up close! Don't forget to enjoy the stunning views of Rundle Mountain too.
Golf Course Loop

The Golf Course Loop at Banff Springs is a perfect option if you're looking for a leisurely ride. Wind your way through the scenic golf course loop and take in the stunning views of Banff National Park along the way. You can take a few stops along the way, including at Bow Falls for some incredible views of the waterfall and the Bow River. Remember to keep to one side of the road as cars are still able to drive on this road.
INSIDER TIP: End your bike ride with a visit to the Waldhaus Restaurant and snag a spot on their patio. Their infamous ‘das boot’ of German beer is one way to celebrate, but make sure you have a friend (or three) to share!

Two Jack Lake

Two Jack Lake is a vibrant summer hotspot along the Minnewana Loop popular among campers, canoers, and anglers. With breathtaking views of Mt. Rundle and the stunning blue water, you'll want to ensure this route is on your list. Whether you're soaking in the awe-inspiring views or stopping for a lakeside lunch, you'll want to plan some extra time to soak in all the natural beauty here!

Johnson Lake
23 km round trip: Suggested rental time min. 4 hours
Johnson Lake is the warmest of the three lakes on the Minnewanka Loop. It's a popular spot with both visitors and locals. Don't forget to pack your swim stuff, as you may want to dip in those mountain waters. There are also washroom facilities and picnic tables, making it a perfect place to take a break for lunch.
Lake Minnewanka

The Minnewanka Loop is one of the most popular loops in Banff, and it does not disappoint. Sit back and enjoy the ride as you pass by stunning lakes and mountain scenery. As you make your way up to Lake Minnewanka, stick to the west side of the loop before arriving at the beautiful blue glacial lake. Once you've reached the top, you can explore the lake further by jumping on a Minnewanka Lake Cruise or treat yourself to a well-deserved ice cream and enjoy the lakeside views. On the way back, stop at Two Jack Lake and end your loop at tranquil Cascade Ponds before making your way back to the town of Banff.

The Legacy Trail

Get ready for the ultimate full-day adventure on The Legacy Trail. The trail connects to Banff's neighbour, Canmore, and is a predominately car-free bike path adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway. As you cruise your way along the trail, take in the jaw-dropping mountain views and make sure to keep an eye out for wildlife. Once you reach Canmore, immerse yourself in the vibrant mountain town, explore the unique shops and charming boutiques, and relax on one of the sunny patios. INSIDER TIP: If you don’t fancy heading to Canmore, halfway between the towns you’ll find the Valleyview Picnic Area. With tables, rest areas, and the classic red Parks Canada chairs, this is a great spot to stop for lunch. Then you can head back to Banff the same way you came.
Johnston Canyon

Are you looking for something further afield? Johnston Canyon is a spectacular full-day trip. Head west along the Legacy Trail and onto the Bow Valley Parkway 1A. Once you arrive at Johnston Canyon, you can hike to the thundering lower and upper canyons, or for something closer, you can walk to Silverton Falls.
INSIDER TIP: For some months of the year, you can enjoy the 1A with just other cyclists. Parks Canada is testing a three-year cycling pilot program restricting vehicles on the parkway 17km section on the eastern end towards Banff. Take a look at the full details here.
