Holiday Spirit in Banff & Lake Louise

If you are looking forward to a white Christmas, Banff National Park is the place for you! Festivities to get you in the holiday spirit abound and are sure to have everyone from the tiny tykes to the scrooge in your crew smiling.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to get in a merry mood:

1. Party at the Parade

The Santa Claus Parade of Lights kicks off the holiday season with a takeover of Banff Avenue on December 5th.  Cruising its way up the main drag, colourful floats, lights, and music are greeted by happy revelers.  A number of other family-friendly activities are held throughout town, so plan for a full day of fun.  For a full listing of activities, click here.

2. Skip the mall and get your Santa pic slope-side!

Santa hits the slopes at both Sunshine Village and Lake Louise Ski Resort during the holiday season so get the family out for the perfect photo op.  Click here to see Santa’s ski schedule.

3. A Christmas Costume = Complimentary Craving

Santa Shreds for Free is a long standing tradition at Mt Norquay.  Dress as Santa, Mrs. Claus, or one of his elves and Norquay won’t charge you a thing!  There is no better way to spend Christmas Day than on the slopes decked out in Christmas gear!

4. Country Christmas Dinner

Nothing says Christmas like a good old-fashioned country dance and nestled behind the Chateau Lake Louise is Brewster’s Dance Barn – possibly the most quintessentially Canadian spot for a Christmas hoedown.  On December 23 ,26, and 29th, Brewster hosts its Country Christmas Dinner.  Expect a decadent beef dinner with all the fixings and a live country band to get the party started!

5. Posh Christmas Possibilities

If swanky is more your style, make a trip up to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel where the Christmas décor is so lavish it virtually envelops you with holiday spirit.  Seeing their giant gingerbread house is worth a trip up to the hotel in itself, and those lucky enough to be booked into either the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel or the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise have a whole calendar of family-friendly Christmas activities to choose from.
