A Day in the Life at SkiBig3 - Mt. Norquay

Morning: Waking Up in Banff

Start your day in the heart of Banff with a hot cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast at a local favorite like Wild Flour Bakery. With Mt. Norquay just a 10-minute drive away, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the morning views of the Rockies before hitting the slopes.

Mid-Morning: First Tracks and Groomers

Arriving early at Mt. Norquay means you’ll have the chance to make first tracks on freshly groomed runs. Start with the Cascade Chair, where beginner and intermediate friendly trails offer a gentle warm up with unbeatable views of the Bow Valley and Mt Rundle. These wide open runs are perfect for cruising and taking in the spectacular scenery.

For those looking to step up the challenge, head over to the Mystic Chair. Known for its steeper terrain and a great mix of tree lined runs, Mystic is a playground for intermediate and advanced skiers alike. Feel the adrenaline rush as you carve your way down thrilling descents, with the rugged beauty of the Rockies as your backdrop.

Lunch: A Scenic Break at the Lone Pine

By midday, it’s time to refuel. The Lone Pine, conveniently located slope side at the main lodge, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with locally sourced and hearty dishes to satisfy your appetite. Treat yourself to an eggplant parmesan burger, black bean tacos, or try a locals’ favorite; nachos. Pair your meal with a craft beer or a steaming hot chocolate for the ultimate mountain lunch.
Take a moment to relax and soak in the views through the lodge's large windows. Watching skiers glide down the slopes as you enjoy your meal.

Afternoon: Adventure and Variety

With your energy restored, it’s time to head back out and explore more of Norquay’s diverse terrain. The beauty of this compact resort is that you can easily navigate from one area to another, making it possible to experience a wide variety of runs in a single afternoon.

For thrill seekers, the terrain parks offer a chance to test your skills on jumps, rails, and other features or head over to the North American chair for steep runs with incredible views. If you prefer carving smooth groomers, there are plenty of intermediate runs that deliver both excitement and stunning views. Norquay caters to all skill levels, from beginners finding their confidence to seasoned skiers seeking new challenges.

One of the biggest perks? Short or nonexistent lift lines. You’ll spend less time waiting and more time enjoying the slopes.

Night Skiing Under the Lights

On Fridays and Saturdays, the fun doesn’t have to end when the sun sets. Mt. Norquay is the only resort in the area to offer night skiing, where the mountain takes on a magical glow under the lights. Carving turns beneath the stars is an experience that every skier and snowboarder should try at least once.

Evening: A Cozy Dinner in Town

After a full day on the slopes, nothing beats a hearty dinner back in Banff. The Maple Leaf offers elevated Canadian cuisine in a cozy, rustic setting with delicious Alberta inspired dishes and fresh seasonal ingredients. If you're craving comfort food, Park Distillery serves up wood fired favorites that are perfect for refueling after your mountain adventure.
