17 ways to spend Easter in Banff and Lake Louise

Spring is here! The days are longer, the skies are bluer, and the Easter bunny will be bouncing to Banff and Lake Louise in less than two weeks. Just like the crocuses, spring events – including ways to spend Easter in Banff and Lake Louise – are sprouting up on events calendars across Banff National Park.

If you’re travelling with kids, check out family-friendly Easter events in Banff like Mt. Norquay’s slope-side egg hunt or the Banff Gondola’s kids ride free special. If you’re a foodie, indulge in a festive Easter Brunch with elaborate specials like Oreo French toast (at the Banff Park Lodge) or caffeinated cocktails at the Fairmont Banff Springs Vermillion Room. Whichever way you choose to celebrate, there is a Banff Easter event for everyone.

So, here it is – the essential list of Easter events in Banff you need to put in your basket this April.

The ultimate guide to Easter in Banff and Lake Louise

  1. Search for thousands (yes, THOUSANDS) of chocolate treasures left in the snow, on Mt. Norquay’s slopes. Only 200 spots are available for this egg hunt so sign up today! The hunt starts at 10:00am sharp on April 9.

  1. While you’re up there, bring the whole family to Mt. Norquay’s Easter Brunch. Starting at 10:30am (after the big hunt) they’ll be frying up all your brunch favourites at the Lone Pine Pub.

  1. Sip a brunch cocktail (or two) at the Fairmont Banff Springs Vermillion Room. Their Sunday brunch includes sophisticated drinks like a DIY Mimosa, Iced Irish Coffee, and Steamy White Russian.

  1. Catch the Easter Bunny at Lake Louise Ski Resort. Rumour has it, he will be hopping all over the mountain between April 7-9, and his basket will be full of chocolate eggs...

  1. Attend an Easter church service at 2200m (7200 ft).

  1. Bring your basket to the top of Strawberry Express and find the Easter bunny for a special Easter treat and an alpine egg hunt!

  1. Dive into an epic Easter spread of maple soy cedar planked salmon, overnight Alberta beef striploin, Italian easter pie, and Oreo French toast at the Banff Park Lodge’s Easter Sunday Brunch. Oh, and did we mention there will be a live harp performance?

  1. Celebrate Easter Sunday at one of Banff’s beautiful and historical churches.

  1. Knock down a few pins (and a few hours of fun) at High Rollers. Their ten-pin bowling lanes open at 3:00pm, daily.

  1. Glide down an easy green groomer, named Pika, on the backside of Lake Louise Ski Resort. The Pika is a common alpine critter of Banff National Park and while it looks like a rodent or hamster, it's actually a member of the Lagomorpha order, more closely related to hares and rabbits.

  1. Join Banff Community High School art teacher, Catherine Dafoe, at the Banff Public Library, to learn about the traditional art of Ukrainian Easter Egg decorating.

  1. Ride the Jackrabbit Quad and bounce down Cotton Tail, at Banff Sunshine.

  1. Visit the Banff Gondola for a mountaintop adventure. For the first two hours of the day, kids ride free!

  1. Race down Cascade in a ridiculous costume, in the annual BOZO & Kinder Cup, taking place at Mt. Norquay April 8-9. They’ve got up to $10 0000 in cash prizes to give away!

  1. Eat tacos, sip Mountain Joe, play “beach” volleyball, vibe out to DJ Bunny Hops, and join a conga line at the Temple Lodge Takeover, happening every Saturday until April 15 from 11:00am-3:00pm.

  1. Book table at The Rimrock’s elegant Easter buffet

  1. Add a bottle of bubbles to your brunch (with the best views of Banff) at the Juniper Hotel

Temple Lodge Takeover, at Lake Louise Ski Resort, is where the spring vibes are happening, every Saturday until April 15.

Has this list got you feeling festive? Easter in Banff is a hippity-happy time for the whole family. If you’re lucky enough to be here over Easter weekend, we hope you take in one or more of these ways to spend Easter in Banff.

Why Skiing in Banff National Park Feels Different

Skiing rarely happens in a place this protected, expansive, and deeply connected to nature. In Banff, three world-class ski resorts operate entirely within a preserved Canadian National Park, the oldest park in Canada, creating an experience that feels both elevated and refreshingly grounded.
