10 events in Banff-Lake Louise to soothe your post-Olympic hangover

After two weeks of Olympic cheering you’re probably left wondering what to do with your time? Fear not ski friends, we’ve got events to rival the Olympics and with gold medal worthy ski packages.

Powder 8’s – March 1 – Lake Louise Ski Resort
Timing, style and technical ability are under intense scrutiny for powder skiers as teams of two carve their way down Lake Louise’s steeps creating figure 8’s in the untracked powder. Tracks are judged on roundness, symmetry and fall line.
NFL Mascot Race – March 1 – Lake Louise Ski Resort
Cheer on and meet your favourite NFL team as the mascots go head-to-head in a race down Easy Street. Mascots attending; Houston Texans, St. Louise Rams, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, Philidelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears.
Big Mountain Challenge – Mar 7-9, 14-16 – Lake Louise Ski Resort
Listed as one of the biggest competitions on the Lake Louise event calendar, the competition tests the skill of skiers and snowboarders on big mountain terrain. Mar 7-9 is the Junior competition and Mar 14-15 the over 18’s. Catch the action on the backside of the mountain.
Krowd Party – Mar 15 – Lake Louise Ski Resort
Party at 7,000ft as Krowd and DJ’s transform the Lodge of the Ten Peaks into the biggest nightclub in the Rockies! Awesome.
Caribou Cup – Mar 15-16 – Mt. Norquay
The World Cup of entry level skiing returns to Mt. Norquay for this annual race. Spectators welcomed to see the race unfold on the mountain!
Full Moon Ski – Mar 15 – Mt. Norquay
Ski by the light of the full moon at Mt. Norquay as ski patrol guide you down the famous Lone Pine run. The event is largely for advanced skiers and snowboarders who are comfortable on black and double black terrain.
St. Patrick’s Day – Mar 17 – Sunshine Village
Celebrate with all things green at Sunshine Village for St. Patrick’s day. Expect food specials, DJ’s and decorations at Mad Trappers Saloon. You might even see some fancy dress on the slopes!
Salomon Demo Days – Mar 22 – Sunshine Village
Test out the latest gear on offer from Salomon at the Sunshine Village demo day. Give you potential new purchase a real test run on the slopes to see if it’s the right fit for you.
Ski Louise Stampede – Mar 29 – Lake Louise Ski Resort
Yeeeeeeehawww!! The cowboys and chaps are back as professional rodeo riders don skis to race at Lake Louise. Enjoy spectating during the day or join the after-party to celebrate.
48^th Annual Bruno Engler Race – Mar – Mt. Norquay
Follow in the footsteps of greats. The race is the longest consecutively running annual ski race in Canada. Skiers aged 35+ can enter to win trophies for fastest run, fastest run in 65+ category and the oldest male and female to race. Retro costumes welcomed for a chance to win a 13-14 season pass.
