Mount Norquay Kicks Off Its 100th Season on November 8th

Mt Norquay officially kicked off its 100th season on Saturday, November 8, welcoming skiers and riders back to Banff’s oldest resort for an early-season weekend full of sunshine, stoke, and celebration. With the Cascade Chair and the Sundance Magic Carpet spinning, Norquay was buzzing from first chair to last lap.

A Century in the Making

This was not just another opening day. It was the start of a historic season. Guests gathered early to celebrate 100 years of skiing at Mt. Norquay, sharing stories of past winters and making new memories on the mountain. The day began under clear blue skies, with soft corduroy runs and a picture-perfect view of Banff below.

Laps, Laughs, and Local Spirit

Cascade was the place to be, with skiers and riders linking turns, cheering each other on, and enjoying the fresh corduroy.  The terrain park crew built four early-season features, giving riders a fun warm-up for the season ahead. The base area buzzed with that unmistakable Mt. Norquay energy as locals reconnected, first-timers learned, and everyone celebrated another season of skiing where it all began.

The Season Ahead

Mt Norquay will pause operations from November 10 to 14 before reopening for daily operations starting November 15. Coming soon, the brand-new Stoney Magic Carpet will triple Norquay’s beginner terrain, creating even more space for new skiers and riders to learn. Later this season, guests can also look forward to the debut of the Norquay 100 Glades, a brand-new terrain expansion in the Mystic area. And join us in March for the 100th anniversary celebration event!  The lifts are spinning, and the celebration has begun.

Grab your SkiBig3 Lift Ticket or Ikon Pass and make your first turns of Mt. Norquay’s 100th season.
