Norquay celebrates Thomas Grandi with a run named in his honour

Today at Mt. Norquay over two hundred international male and female competitors participating in the GMC Cup Giant Slalom and Slalom races, looked on as Thomas Grandi received a run named in his honour. Grandi, who started skiing at the age of two on Norquay’s slopes, became the first Canadian male to win a World Cup Giant Slalom race in 2004. Andre Quenneville, General Manager of Mt. Norquay said, “Throughout [Thomas’] successful racing career and now as he develops and encourages the skills of young skiers, Norquay has always been proud to call Thomas our own.”

Grandi retired from ski racing in March 2007 and is now the president of Alpine Alberta. One of Norquay’s popular racing runs formerly know as Excalibur off Mystic Quad Chair will now bear Grandi’s signature – Giv’er Grandi.
