November 9th went down as the most anticipated day of the winter in the Bow Valley, as Banff Sunshine Village, Lake Louise Ski Resort, and Mt. Norquay welcomed the first skiers and snowboarders of the 2018/19 season. Collectively, they were the first resorts in Canada to open for full-time operations, seven days a week.
We had an early start to winter in the valley as Fall was seemingly skipped, and snow graced the mountaintops as early as September. With a week of cold temps leading up to opening day plus plenty of hard work from the resort teams, the mountains were set up beautifully for all to enjoy. Cumulative snowfall has already reached up to 104cm at Banff Sunshine Village!
