Mt. Norquay, Lake Louise Mountain Resort and Sunshine Village are proud to present the Three Areas Scholarship to Tess Davies, a student at Canmore Collegiate and new member of the Alberta Alpine Ski Team.
This scholarship recognises the hard work and dedication that Tess has shown by excelling in both academic and athletic efforts. Travelling all over the world, she has represented Canada and Alberta at the World Junior Championships in Spain, the National Championships and the National Junior Championships.
Although these commitments keep her away from school for up to 30 per cent of the school year, she has maintained Honour Role Status at Canmore Collegiate.
The scholarship, created to support local athletes who excel in their academic studies, is funded by the Community Ski Days 2007, an event organised by Mt. Norquay, Lake Louise Mountain Resort and Sunshine Village to express appreciation of local support. Bow Valley locals were invited to ski all day for a donation of just $20, with all proceeds being matched by the tri-area resorts and donated to local causes.
Community Ski Days are held in December each year as a way for locals to experience each of Banff National Park’s ski resorts while raising money for local causes.
This year the proceeds will be donated to:
- Improving facilities at The Lake Louise Sport and Recreation Society to encourage local health and fitness.
- Upgrading the playground and buildings at The Banff Child Care Centre and Canmore Community Daycare Society to ensure fun and safe environments for local children.
- Helping the Canadian Women’s Biathlon team reach the 2010 Olympics to represent Canada and celebrate the growing success of this sport in the Bow Valley.
- Construction of a pedestrian bridge from Banff’s Central Park to the recreation grounds to improve the local town experience, bringing this vision closer to a reality.
