Family Time in Banff this December

There’s so much to ski and do with SkiBig3. December is prime time to visit with your family, with plenty stay busy on and off the slopes.

World Cup – Kicking off the month with the Lake Louise Audi World Cup on December 1st to 3rd, Lake Louise Ski Resort will be a hub of ski activity for all ages and abilities. Ice sculpture photo ops and a Mini Food & Drink Market are just a few of the complimentary services that running that weekend.  Even better, kids ski (and learn!) for free on race days.

Wagon Rides – running every Sunday 12-4pm from November 19th to December 17th, enjoy the wonder of Banff by wagon, courtesy of the Banff Trail Riders. Be sure to layer up and prepare for the weather! Rides leave from the Whyte Museum parking lot.

Christmas in the Courtyard – The local hub of Banff gets Christmas-fied on Saturday, December 2nd. Join the community in the Bison Courtyard for complimentary hot chocolate, a s’more making station, Christmas carolers, a visit from Santa and more!

Banff Gondola Rides – From November 18th to January 7th, enjoy a mountaintop Christmas at the Banff Gondola. Visit before noon and kids go free! Cookies, a self-guided adventure, and stunning signature views of Banff.

See a Winter Performance

Tis the season for festive tales and enjoyment of the finer things in life. Here are a few we think you and yours might enjoy:

The Nutcracker – The Bolshoi Ballet at artsPlace Canmore – This holiday tradition brings two hours of enchantment and magic for the whole family. The Nutcracker remains a classic treasure not to be missed, and is just a short drive from Banff! December 3rd from 1 – 3:30pm.

Tom Jackson: Christmas 150 Master storyteller and musician Tom Jackson weaves a mythical, multimedia, and musical journey of all things Canadian and all things Christmas. December 17th at 2pm. 

Christmas Choir by the Bow Valley Chorus, at Banff Ave. Square – Bring yourself back to the roots of the holiday with some good ole fashioned Christmas cheer. December 1st, 8th, and 22nd from 7-8pm. Or enjoy their concert performances December 16th and 17th.

      Hi Debbie, the Banff Gondola is doing a mountain top yoga on the 29th at 10:30 am and stargazing with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada from 6-8pm, the Fairmont Banff Springs is performing Mavericks of the Mountains at 5pm A Christmas Carol at 8pm each night, and the Brent Lee Band is performing at Wild Bill’s Legendary Saloon each night at 9:30pm.
