100 Photos of Early Season Powder at SkiBig3 Just in Time for the Holidays

The Canadian Rockies snow storm cycle is at it again! It all started on Thursday, Dec. 19th, when snowfall amounts of up to 20cms graced Banff Sunshine Village, Lake Louise Ski Resort, and Mt. Norquay – and it just kept building up from there! Already Banff Sunshine Village has seen 86 cms from this storm cycle alone! While Lake Louise Ski Resort has seen 62cms, and Mt. Norquay 43cms. After just one week, some resorts saw over 100 cms of snowfall. With snowfall building up from the streets of Banff and Lake Louise all the way up to the mountaintops of Banff Sunshine Village, Lake Louise Ski Resort, and Mt. Norquay, it’s safe to say your holiday visit to Banff and Lake Louise will have an extra snowy, Christmas-y feel for all to enjoy.

So far, our predictions for a super snowy SkiBig3 season have rung true. With consistent snowfall since October, some resorts opening a week early than anticipated, and powder days on the weekly, locals and visitors alike have been enjoying mid-season conditions before we even hit December. And with more and more terrain and lifts opening every day and ALL SkiBig3 resorts already operating 100% of their chair lifts, you’re guaranteed to have a great time at Banff Sunshine Village, Lake Louise Ski Resort, and Mt. Norquay this winter.

Not sure just how good it really is out here? Check out our round up of ONE HUNDRED early season powder days from the SkiBig3 resorts – all taken in November and December of 2019.

MERRY EARLY CHRISTMAS TO ME! MERRY EARLY CHRISTMAS TO YOU! Woke up as giddy as a 6 year old on Christmas Day, thanks to a gift of 20 cm of Canada’s Best Snow at Banff Sunshine Village. Reflecting back on the past decade, snowboarding has gifted me endless joy. On the mountain, my worries melt away and I can simply play. As I grow into the new decade ahead, I am challenging myself to retain my sense of play. It’s when I let go of “what should be,” that I am able to realize new worlds of potential. How will you grow in the 2020’s? . . . || #snowboarding #banff #banffsunshine #sunshinevillage #shredssv #powderday #winterwonderland #merrychristmas #findjoy #dowhatyoulove #beyou #canada #canadianrockies #skibig3 #ikonpass #mountaincollective #alberta #travelalberta #yyc #winter #wildaboutwinter

It's not easy to capture action shot when you dont have the high speed burst. But that's when the fun comes in! On this wicked hunt we went exploring some of the not so commonly touched are in Lake Louise skii resort. It's been good week or so and we still had pristine 30-50 cm fresh snow. So we do what we do, hit the drops and capture the moment. I wasn't sure if i want to risk my 5D so the 6D is stepping up! However the burst on the 6D is much slower, so I would have to anticipate the delay and make sure I capture the perfect moments! Also it's important to remember if you plan to shoot action photos to turn your focus to continuously or in Canon called (AI servo). ⛷: @tristenohetherington Shot on 6D with 24-70mm f2.8L #TheWickedHunt #TheWickedHuntPhotography #lustofly #lakelouise #lakelouisecanada #skiilakelouise #dpsskis #lakelouiseskiresort #skiing #skimagazine #skimag #canada #wintersport #canoncanada #canon #canonaustralia #skiing #sportsphotography #powguide #mountains #snow #photooftheday #bestoftheday
