Toronto Ski Show Attendees vie to be Banff’s Next Top Model

Hundreds of skiers and boarders of all ages competed to be crowned Banff’s Next Top Model at this weekend’s Toronto Ski, Snowboard and Travel Show. The competition was organized by Ski Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine as part of their annual sales presence at the Show. Contrary to typical model searches, SBLLS centered the search around someone who loves to ski or board, lives to have fun, and knows there are no friends on powder days!

Banff’s Next Top Model was part of the Toronto Ski, Snowboard and Travel Show at the Better Living Exhibition, Toronto, held on October 16-19, 2008. The show is an annual mecca for snow enthusiasts, with the industry’s top companies showcasing the biggest and best for 2008-2009.

Wanna-be models posed in front of a “green screen”, later to be superimposed against a shot of beautiful Banff-Lake Louise’s snow covered mountains. The contest winner will receive a trip for two to Banff-Lake Louise later this Spring 2009 where in addition to skiing and boarding, they will take place in a photo shoot and be featured in Ski Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine’s 2009-2010 advertising campaign.

The winner will be announced this week after a panel of judges have sorted through the hundreds and hundreds of photos. Dan Markham, of Ski Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine, said: “We are looking for someone whose love of skiing or snowboarding shines through in their picture. A fun-loving attitude and passion for snow is what we’re looking for to show off Canada’s Protected Playground, Banff National Park.”

Show organizers say this year the show was the most successful yet, with exhibitors from around the world excited to be a part of Canada’s phenomenal ski and board scene, pumping up for what is sure to be a great season.
