Celebrities head to Sunshine Village

Once again, Hollywood is in Banff National Park!
Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Robbins are the latest Hollywood stars heading to Sunshine Village as The Fairmont Banff Springs Sports Invitational, in support of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Waterkeeper Alliance, gets officially gets underway today, January 17, 2008.
Many stars are expected to arrive early to hit the slopes of the famed Rocky Mountain resort in Banff National Park. Organizers announced Tuesday Alec Baldwin, star of the current hit television show 30 Rock, has agreed to participate in fun-filled events outdoors at Sunshine Village Friday and Saturday where the public can easily watch the action.
Academy award winners Susan Sarandon and partner Tim Robbins will also attend the fund-raising event which last year raised more than $1 million for the Waterkeepers, a landmark environmental organization committed to patrolling and protecting water sources throughout North and Central America.
The list of Hollywood stars continues to grow. Scheduled to join Mr. Kennedy as co-hosts are Emmy Award winner Kelsey Grammer, supermodel Christie Brinkley, Alicia Silverstone, Daryl Hannah, Dennis Franz and famous Canadians including Jason Priestley, Justin Trudeau, music legend Tom Cochrane and Gord Downie from The Tragically Hip along with hockey legends Paul Coffey and Mike Richter.
While outdoor events are open for public viewing, private lunches will be held both Friday and Saturday in the lounge and restaurant area of the Sunshine Inn. No public access to the Eagle’s Nest and Chimney Corner – including for hotel guests — will be allowed during the lunch period.

Friday, January 18
10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Ugg-Como Sports Snowshoe/Toboggan Race. Event course is Located beside the base of the WaWa Quad Chair.
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Chateau Ste. Michelle Biathlon. Event course is located beside the base of the WaWa Quad Chair.
Saturday, January 19
10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – First rounds -Team Paul Mitchell/Team Patrón Dual Giant Slalom Located on Snowsnake race course off Strawberry Triple Chair.
2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Final rounds of Dual Slalom -Team Paul Mitchell/Team Patrón Dual Giant Slalom. Located on Snowsnake race course off Strawberry Triple Chair.
