Santa Brings Snow to Banff-Lake Louise

December 30th, 2008: BANFF-LAKE LOUISE, Alberta, Canada

Banff-Lake Louise was a winter wonderland this Christmas, as Santa delivered 31cm of fresh powder in the last 72 hours, making this a truly festive week.

Visitors and locals must have been good this year, as Santa visited the slopes for some powder turns before and on the big day at three of the world’s finest ski resorts; Mt. Norquay, Lake Louise Ski Area and Sunshine Village. As Santa, skiers and riders alike are celebrating the holidays with fresh tracks, even more snow is forecast for the rest of this week and into the new year.

There’s plenty to look forward to in 2009, as Mt. Norquay and Sunshine Village both welcome in the new year with Torchlight Parades on December 31. Mt. Norquay’s magical parade will be seen from the town of Banff, just minutes away. Sunshine Village’s spectacular show can be best enjoyed from the village area at over 7,000 feet above sea level.

Night skiing and riding starts on January 2 at Mt. Norquay. New for this season, the only night skiing in Banff, including a fully-lit terrain park, will be open Wednesday nights as well as Fridays due to popular demand.

Lake Louise Ski Area has just announced the launch of Downhill at Dusk, an action packed after hours event offering first tracks on freshly groomed runs, along with a smorgasbord of food and entertainment. The event will take place every Friday for the remainder of the 2008-09 season, from January 9.

Keep the New Year’s celebrations going throughout the year in Canada’s Protected Playground, Banff National Park.
